Black Friday is still a month away, but early deals are already popping up on over-ear headphones and earbuds. My team and I test headphones year-round, and several of our favorite models from Sony, Beats, and Apple are getting great discounts right now.

The best early Black Friday headphone deals include excellent savings on the Sony WH-1000XM5. Sony has the XM5s for 43% off, bringing them down to $228. That's close to their record-low price of $198. However, this deal is very popular, and inventory has been coming and going over the last few days. Certain colorways may be sold out, so make sure to check them all. These over-ear cans remain my pick for the best headphones overall thanks to their versatile combo of features and value for the money.

Meanwhile, if you're shopping for earbuds, the AirPods Pro 3 are a great buy at $199 on Amazon. The Pro 3s tend to fluctuate between $230 and $199, so though this is a common deal price, it's still on the low end of their typical cost. But if you're on a tighter budget and prefer open-ear style buds that let you stay aware of your surroundings, I recommend the CMF Clip Pro. They're on sale for $69, which matches their all-time low price from Prime Day.

Though I expect even bigger headphone deals to arrive once Black Friday officially starts, the discounts below are all still solid values, offering early shoppers a nice way to save before the main event begins.

The best early Black Friday headphone deals

Over-ear headphones are also getting good deals in the lead-up to Black Friday. Again, I've seen lower prices on some of these models in the past, but early shoppers can still get solid savings. For example, the AirPods Max 2 are on sale for $449, which is a common discount but still a good markdown from their typical street price of around $500-$510. The Max 2 are the best AirPods for audiophiles, thanks to their over-ear design, which delivers even better sound quality and stronger noise cancellation than earbud-style models.

Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones

$228 $399.99 Save 43%

The WH-1000XM5 are one of Sony’s top over-ear headphones. They boast excellent noise-canceling performance along with great audio quality and a truckload of convenient features.

Apple AirPods Max 2

$449 $549 Save 18%

The AirPods Max 2 are the long-awaited follow-up to Apple's high-end over-ear headphones. This second-gen model features subtle improvements to sound quality and ANC, along with features like Live Translation.

Beats Studio Pro Wireless Headphones

The Beats Studio Pro are wireless headphones designed to do it all, whether you want to be fully immersed in an album or take a call on the go. They offer both active noise canceling (ANC) and transparency modes, making them a versatile option for any situation.

Sony WH-CH720N Headphones

$88 $179.99 Save 51%

Sony's midrange headphones can't match the noise-canceling performance of its pricier options, but they deliver good sound quality for the money and a comfy design.

Sonos Ace Headphones

$330 $349 Save 5%

The Sonos Ace are the comfiest headphones we've reviewed. They also offer great noise-canceling and audio quality that rival top models from the competition.

The best early Black Friday earbud deals

Several of our top-tested earbuds from Sony, Apple, Beats, and more are on sale right now. Though some were cheaper on Prime Day, these deals still represent good savings on each model's street price. For instance, the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 often sell for their full retail price of $250, but right now they're $50 off. The Pro 2 are our pick for the best workout headphones thanks to their versatile features and built-in heart-rate tracking.

Apple AirPods Pro 3

$199 $249 Save 20%

The AirPods Pro 3 offer improved noise cancellation, a built-in heart rate sensor for workouts, and support for Apple's new Live Translation feature. Though the earbuds' revised shape could be an issue for some ears, these are Apple's most impressive AirPods so far.

Sony WF-1000XM5 Earbuds

$248 $329.99 Save 25%

Sony’s WF-1000XM5 earbuds deliver excellent sound quality and noise canceling in a sleek, comfy design that’s tough to beat.

CMF Clip Pro Earbuds

Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 Earbuds

The Powerbeats Pro 2 are excellent fitness earbuds with secure ear hooks, great sound quality, and built-in heart rate monitoring. They also deliver solid noise-canceling and use the same H2 chip found on the latest AirPods.

Nothing Ear (3a) Earbuds

$79 $99 Save 20%

These stylish earbuds feature Nothing's unique transparent design, along with good sound quality and solid noise cancellation for under $100.

Soundcore AeroFit 2 Earbuds

The AeroFit 2 earbuds are the most full-featured and versatile running earbuds we've tested in this price range. They're an excellent fit for gyms and outdoor runs.

Headphone deals FAQs

Should you buy over-ear headphones or earbuds?

Whether over-ear headphones or earbuds are the right fit for your needs depends on how you plan to use them. Over-ear headphones are generally the better choice if you care most about audio quality, powerful noise canceling, and long-term comfort. Their larger earcups and drivers can create a fuller, more spacious sound, while the over-ear design typically blocks more ambient noise, which makes them ideal for flights, commuting, and critical listening at home.

Earbuds, on the other hand, are the more convenient option for workouts, running, and casual everyday listening when you're on the go. They slip easily into a pocket and are less obtrusive during exercise. Many premium models also offer excellent sound and noise canceling, though top over-ear headphones still have an edge.
