正文

Browser Use and Browserless both let you run browser automation without managing a browser fleet. They both support existing scripts and AI-driven workflows, but their pricing, APIs, and deployment options differ.

Let's compare them.

TL;DR

Choose Browser Use for low-cost, subscription-free Chromium infrastructure or hosted browser agents. Choose Browserless for Firefox/WebKit, dedicated screenshot/PDF APIs, or a self-hostable browser server.

∗ Pricing: checked October 26, 2026. Browserless units also cover proxies and CAPTCHA solves; browser-hour rates above are overages, not total bills.
∗ Performance: BrowserArena, October 12, 2026. Figures sum the median create/connect/navigate/release times across 100 measured runs per provider. Runner regions and machines differed.

What Is Browser Use?

Browser Use launched in 2024 and offers cloud browser automation through two commercial products:

  • Browser Infrastructure provides cloud browsers with built-in stealth to help your scripts and agents access bot-protected sites. Connect Playwright, Puppeteer, or your own agent over the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP), without managing a browser fleet.
  • Browser Use Agents takes natural-language instructions, carries out the task in a browser, and returns the results. Browser Use handles the browser and agent loop, so you can automate workflows without building or hosting an agent yourself.

Browser Use also maintains the open-source browser-use Python library for developers who want to build and customize their own browser agents. The library can also connect to Browserless, so using it doesn't require Browser Use Cloud.

What Is Browserless?

Browserless has provided managed browser infrastructure since 2017, supporting automation, scraping, testing, and rendering. You can connect existing scripts over WebSocket, call REST endpoints for operations such as screenshots and PDFs, or write workflows with BrowserQL and the Browser Automation Protocol (BAP) SDKs.

Its Agent Run API (Beta) accepts a natural-language task and returns structured results using a managed browser and model. It's available on Cloud plans.

Browserless offers shared cloud hosting, private deployments, and browser-server images you can run yourself. Feature availability depends on the product and deployment you choose.

Comparison

Pricing

Browser Use charges $0.02 per browser-hour, rounded up to whole minutes, plus $5/GB for managed residential traffic. Direct traffic or your own proxy costs $0.20/GB. Hosted agents add model cost plus a 20% orchestration fee. Purchased credits never expire.

Browser Use also gives eligible Google, GitHub, or Microsoft signups $1 in free credits. No credit card is required.

Browserless pricing is unit-based, with each tier including a monthly allowance: Free includes 1,000 units, Prototyping 20,000, Starter 180,000, and Scale 500,000. Prototyping starts at $25/month when billed annually, with overages at $0.002/unit.

Its unit charges include:

  • One unit per 30 seconds of browser time, rounding up.
  • Six units per MB of residential traffic, or two units per MB of datacenter traffic.
  • Ten units per successful CAPTCHA solve.

Reconnections and agent inference incur additional usage charges.

Suppose you run 600 sessions per month, each lasting exactly ten minutes, with one concurrent browser and 1,024 MB of residential traffic total. Assume no CAPTCHA solves, reconnects, or agent inference.

Cost componentBrowser UseBrowserless Prototyping
100 browser-hours$212,000 units
Residential traffic$56,144 units
Monthly cost$7 usage$25 equivalent, billed annually

Browser Use is cheaper for this workload: $7 in monthly usage versus Browserless's $25/month, billed $300 annually. The calculation uses 1 GB = 1,024 MB, and Browserless's 18,144 units fit within its monthly allowance.

Stealth

Browser Use runs a hardened Chromium fork with stealth enabled by default. Browserless also provides fingerprint protections, proxies, and CAPTCHA handling through offerings such as BrowserQL/BAP.

In Browser Use's Stealth Bench V2, measured September 25, 2026, Browser Use reached the target site on 90.5% of visits, compared with Browserless's 77.5%. The test covered 100 protected sites, visited twice, using each provider's proxy and CAPTCHA solver.

Browser Use got past bot protection more often in this test, giving it an edge for accessing protected sites.

Performance & Limits

In BrowserArena's October 12 results, Browser Use's reported lifecycle score was 515 ms versus Browserless's 731 ms. Both completed all 100 measured runs. The scores sum median opening, connecting, navigating, and release times; they aren't medians of complete runs. Runner regions and hardware differed, so this snapshot doesn't establish how much faster your workflow would run.

Session and concurrency limits also differ:

  • Browser Use starts at 10 concurrent sessions, increasing with qualifying lifetime payments. A $100 total payment unlocks 50; that payment remains usable credit. Its V4 browser API allows sessions up to four hours.
  • Browserless's Free plan allows two concurrent browsers and two-minute sessions. Prototyping, Starter, and Scale allow sessions up to 15, 30, and 60 minutes respectively. Concurrency and higher limits depend on the plan and billing arrangement; Enterprise supports custom deployments.

Browser Use reported a lower lifecycle score in this snapshot and offers a higher self-serve concurrency ceiling through credit top-ups. Browserless may suit you better if you prefer subscription-based capacity.

Developer Experience & Sessions

Both support Playwright and Puppeteer. Browserless adds Firefox/WebKit and REST APIs for screenshots, PDFs, and scraping, which can save you from writing a full browser script.

Both reuse saved logins. Browser Use can sync local cookies; Browserless lets you save an authenticated profile for later sessions.

Profiles preserve authentication state between sessions, but don't keep a page running. To continue an ongoing workflow, you need the live browser to remain available. Browserless BAP's reconnect feature keeps it alive for a configured timeout after disconnection, preserving the open page as well as its state. Check session limits if your workflow waits for a person.

Browser Use offers live preview and optional recordings. Browserless BAP provides interactive live URLs and session replay, useful when a person needs to complete a login step.

Self-Hosting & Deployment

The Browser Use agent library uses the MIT license and runs with your own browser and model. Browser Use also offers commercial on-prem deployment for browsers and agents.

Browserless publishes Docker images for its browser server under SSPL-1.0 or a commercial license. Its README says closed-source commercial applications and CI systems need a commercial license.

Browserless's Enterprise Docker adds features such as BrowserQL, stealth/CAPTCHA solving, and recording to its self-hosted offering.

Conclusion

Browser Use is a strong fit for usage-based Chromium infrastructure, especially when browser cost matters or you want managed AI agents to automate browser tasks alongside your scripts. Consider Browserless when multiple browser engines, specialized APIs, or a deployable browser server are central requirements.

To connect an existing Playwright application, follow the Browser Use connection guide.
