LG Energy Solution 徵求下一代電池研究提案
LG Energy Solution Seeks Next-Gen Battery Research Proposals

LG Energy Solution is inviting research proposals on next-generation battery technologies from universities and research institutions in South Korea and overseas. This year, the company has expanded its research topics to cover materials, battery management systems (BMS) and artificial intelligence (AI).
LG Energy Solution said on Oct. 29 that it is launching the Battery Innovation Contest (BIC) 2026, its global research proposal program. Applications will be accepted from Oct. 29 through Dec. 6.
BIC is an industry-academia collaboration program through which LG Energy Solution selects research projects proposed by universities and research institutions and provides funding. Company researchers also participate in the projects to evaluate technology development and commercialization potential.
Launched in 2017, BIC marks its 10th anniversary this year. LG Energy Solution has expanded the scope of research topics to its broadest level yet. Key areas include battery cell condition diagnostics and investigations into mechanisms for improving safety. Research and development (R&D) teams from each business division directly selected topics based on actual business needs.
Over the past decade, LG Energy Solution has supported approximately 50 research projects through BIC. Projects that demonstrate technical feasibility are expanded into joint research centers (FRLs) operated with domestic and overseas universities and research institutions, with additional funding and personnel provided.
Last year, the company pursued a patent application related to improving BMS processing speed. In 2019, research findings on long-life all-solid-state batteries operating at room temperature were published in the international scientific journal Science.
All universities and research institutions in South Korea and overseas are eligible to participate. Applications can be submitted through BRIDGE, the dedicated BIC platform. LG Energy Solution will select projects for funding based on criteria including technological maturity and commercialization potential.
