Big Tech Oligarchs: If your AI bet fails, don't come begging to taxpayers. You won't be bailed out — period. End of Discussion.

Joe Weisenthal / @thestalwart:This line of thinking from Cameron Crise is spot on. And yet another example of why the stock market is, in fact, the economy [Sceenshot: “Ask yourself: if Alphabet or Amazon or Meta saw their share prices fall a further 50% from here, do you think they would maintain their AI spending plans? Where would the cash come from? The big five hyperscalers are expected to have negative free cash flow of -$106 billion over the next year. Spacex by itself is forecast to burn through $130 billion of cash in the next twelve months and $230 billion over the next three years. Heaven only knows how much cash Anthropic and OpenAI will go through. ]

Elon Tusk / @humpadumpa_:I don't dislike Bernie, but this is simply untrue and misleading. Their total short and long term future commitments are $3 trillion, including non-AI stuff. Their actual debt and lease liabilities are around $800 billion. Those are two wholly different figures.

Bala / @skorpien:@SenSanders Deal. If they succeed, shut up about raising their taxes. Period. End of discussion.

Dan Ives / @divestech:Our bullishness on tech and AI trade remains unchanged to own the winners on this multi year $3 trillion to $4 trillion spending theme over the coming years...those companies that show monetization and execution will be rewarded, but others penalty box @CNBCClosingBell

@kobeissiletter:Yesterday's earnings call with Reddit's CEO will be referenced for years to come. Reddit, $RDDT, is now down -42% in 8 trading days. AI has disrupted search, and the internet more broadly, forever. Our thoughts on this are included below.

Derek Thompson / @dkthomp:The rise of Google AI Mode (plus agents) will be a big economic shift for the web—but it's also a huge psychological shift in our relationship to other people on the web... This will change the economics of the internet because the machine has gone from hunting and gathering (ranking and displaying links to which they send traffic) to serving final meals (summarizing the results). We're seeing AI Mode affect Alphabet earnings, Reddit revenues, and search traffic for publishers. That's already a big story.

@buccocapital:Reddit call was absolutely fascinating. Everyone should listen to it as a bellwether for where the internet is going - AI Mode is increasingly default Google experience - AI Mode provides rich info and data in line, less incentive to leave search - AI Mose incentivizes dialog, Google wants to keep you engaged to serve more ads at each turn - Google will milk search for as much revenue as possible as they transition from a search company to a cloud service and chip company - As traffic from humans becomes more scarce this will put Google in an increasingly adversarial position to the rest of the internet - This is a massive headwind to all media type companies who are not destinations - This is a massive headwind to all content-driven go-to-market motions especially in the SMB. …

Mike Overell / @mboverell:I lead product for Claude subscriptions. Today we're renaming our Max plans, and I want to explain why. When we launched our top plan in April 2025, it had a single limit: 5 hours. It gave you 20x Pro's limit, so we called it Max 20x. When we added weekly limits to Max 20x, we set them to 10x Pro's (the 5-hour limit stayed at 20x). I get that some new users assumed 20x applied to both limits. We could have done better here, and I'm sorry. The Ultra plan keeps the weekly limit (10x Pro), but we're removing the 5-hour limit so you can keep building without getting blocked mid-session [...]

Pratham / @prathkum:I think Anthropic is being a little cheeky here. They have removed the 5-hour limit for Ultra users, but the weekly limits remain unchanged. My speculation: more powerful models are coming that could burn through your entire weekly usage in a single day, or even a few hours. Built to burn more tokens. [embedded post]

@judiciaryuk:The full judgment and press summary in R (Meta, X, TikTok) -v- OFCOM can now be read on the judicial website: https://www.judiciary.uk/...

Preston Byrne / @prestonjbyrne:Well they didn't throw the entire legal kitchen sink. If they'd just told Ofcom to pound sand and invoked the U.S. Constitution, there would be very little Ofcom could do about it. They're not playing hardball

@terrorwatchdog:High Court has thrown out tech giants' challenges to OFCOM information notices. Short point is that Meta, WhatsApp, X and TikTok threw the legal kitchen sink - and missed (one of TikTok's arguments rejected as relying on “wholly decontextualised and determinedly over-suspicious reading of selective facts” [119]"). Main point was whether responding to info notices was too much work for the giants: most interesting conclusion of court was at [146]: it was the “sheer scale of traffic” on the platforms that created a level of risk that OFCOM seeking to measure/ address [...]

@osint613:London's High Court ruled for Ofcom against Meta, TikTok and X. Ofcom's February information notices, issued under the 2023 Online Safety Act, demanded data on posts removed, posts with restricted visibility, and users who saw harmful material. The companies called the demands unprecedented and overly burdensome. They also argued the notices lacked a clearly defined purpose. The court rejected all of it.

Shay Boloor / @stocksavvyshay:One of the craziest lines from $AMZN earnings was Andy Jassy saying “we're installing an AI accelerator about every 14 seconds” with customers taking up capacity almost as fast as AWS brings it online. And somehow we're still debating whether Amazon is spending too much on AI.

Sebastian Herrera / @sebasaherrera:During a call with analysts following today's earnings, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy took a swipe at shopping agents like Meta's Muse. He said “few customers are doing much shopping this way yet, as the experience is still not great, nor more convenient than coming to a retailer directly.” In September, Amazon blocked Meta's popular new AI assistant from accessing its online store.

Ben Bajarin / @benbajarin:$AMZN “it's important to remember that the vast majority of global IT spend, about 85%, is still on premises. And we're in a 10 to 20-year cycle where that equation will flip to the cloud.”
