Grundfos Pumps said it aims to help companies achieve carbon neutrality, or net zero, by improving the energy efficiency of pumping systems and reducing industrial water consumption.

Grundfos Pumps held its Grundfos Net Zero Industrial Future 2026 event at Novotel Ambassador Suwon in Gyeonggi Province on Oct. 27, outlining an industrial transformation strategy focused on optimizing energy and water consumption.

Grundfos Pumps said net zero is becoming increasingly important as global companies demand that their suppliers reduce carbon emissions. However, it noted that businesses must maintain production stability and product quality while considering the payback periods for equipment upgrades.

Grundfos Pumps said it can improve pumping system efficiency and reduce electricity consumption associated with water supply, circulation, cooling, treatment and recycling. Analyzing industrial operating data using artificial intelligence (AI) can also improve operational efficiency, the company said. To support these efforts, it offers an energy optimization model that assesses customers' pumping systems and calculates energy and water savings as well as return on investment (ROI). The model also estimates reductions in total cost of ownership (TCO), including maintenance and operating expenses over 10 to 20 years.

The company also identified reducing water consumption as a priority. Demand for industrial water is increasing with the growth of industries such as AI data centers and semiconductors, while available water resources remain limited, it said. Grundfos Pumps emphasized the need to transform industrial water management systems to increase water reuse rates.

Grundfos Pumps also outlined its own sustainability targets, aiming to reduce direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The company said meeting these goals requires customers to adopt high-efficiency equipment and reduce energy consumption during operations.

"We will work with customers to deliver tangible, measurable changes," said Eric Lai, vice president of the Industry Division for Asia Pacific and China at Grundfos Pumps. "Companies must create more value with fewer resources."

"Carbon reduction cannot be achieved through the efforts of individual companies alone," said Han Ki-sung, CEO of Grundfos Pumps Korea. "We will combine customer experience and data with our technology to build a sustainable industrial ecosystem."

Founded in 1945, Grundfos Pumps is a Danish company specializing in pumps and water treatment solutions. It operates 156 subsidiaries across 66 countries and employs more than 21,000 people. Annual revenue is approximately 7 trillion won, and the company reinvests about 5% of its revenue in research and development (R&D) each year.
