Fourthline 與 Veridas 完成合併,應對 AI 身份詐騙
Fourthline and Veridas complete merger to fight AI identity fraud
Fourthline chief executive Paul Stoddart will run the identity verification group formed by his company’s merger with Spain’s Veridas, which closed on Tuesday. The two companies first announced the deal on 16 July.
The combined company checks the identities of customers for banks and other regulated businesses. It handles know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering checks, biometrics and fraud prevention, and says it works in more than 50 countries. It is on track for 200 million verifications in 2026, according to the announcements by Fourthline and Veridas.
“Closing marks the establishment of a true European Leader in identity and fraud prevention. Starting today, a business partner onboarding customers in Amsterdam, Madrid, London, Mexico City, São Paulo or Bogotá will be able to apply a single verification standard through a single provider,” said Stoddart.
Up to €65m in funding
The deal comes with up to €65m in funding. Existing shareholder Finch Capital is providing part of it. Seaya Andromeda is making a new equity investment, and Ashgrove Capital is supplying debt financing. The announcement does not say how the total is split.
The money will go to product development, acquisitions and refinancing debt. It also funds a reorganisation of the shareholdings, which includes partial liquidity for Veridas shareholders.
The companies project combined revenue of more than €50m in 2026. Both were EBITDA-positive at closing, they said, and they expect to reach €85m in annual recurring revenue in 2029.
They also expect €20m a year in run-rate synergies. Their customers overlap little, so most of that growth is meant to come from selling each company’s technology to the other’s clients.
Who runs the company
Eduardo Azanza, Veridas’s co-founder and chief executive, becomes president of the combined company. Radboud Vlaar, managing partner at Finch Capital, chairs the supervisory board. The headquarters will be in Amsterdam, with offices in Stockholm, Pamplona, Barcelona, Mexico, São Paulo and Boston.
Fourthline was founded in Amsterdam in 2017. Its clients include Revolut, N26, Trade Republic, Qonto, Rabobank and Bitpanda. Veridas was founded the same year as a joint venture with the Spanish bank BBVA. It says it serves more than 350 clients in 25 countries.
“Our mission is clear: we tell the real from the fake, so our customers can build on trust. This merger gives us the talent, technology and reach to take that mission further than either company could alone,” said Azanza.
Why the companies merged now
The companies say regulated businesses face two pressures at once. Fraud is more and more generated by AI, including deepfakes and synthetic identities. At the same time, compliance rules are widening.
Those rules include the EU’s anti-money laundering rules (AMLR), the MiCA crypto rules, eIDAS 2.0 and national age verification laws. In Mexico and Latin America, they also include rules from regulators such as Mexico’s banking supervisor, the CNBV.
The companies cite Juniper Research, which expects global spending on digital identity verification to reach nearly $19bn in 2026. It forecasts growth of 55% to more than $29bn by 2030.
Customers of either company keep their existing contracts, integrations and support. The two platforms will be integrated in phases, and the companies say customers do not need to take any action.
