The Samsung Q990F is a beast of a soundbar that delivers immersive Dolby Atmos audio in all directions. This multi-piece system is more like a full-fledged home theater in a box than a traditional soundbar, thanks to its included wireless subwoofer and dedicated rear speakers. It not only tops my guide to the best soundbars but also my guide to the best surround sound systems in general.
The Q990F launched in 2025 for $2,000, but over the last few months, it has typically sold for around $1,600. That's already a great price, but right now it's an even better deal. Amazon has the Q990F on sale for $998, via a Samsung-approved seller. The best price this model has ever dropped to was $948, so this is close to the record low.
Samsung also sells a newer version of this soundbar, called the Q990H, but it's pricier (typically about $500 more) and delivers nearly identical performance. Despite being the older model, the Q990F remains my top recommendation for anyone looking to upgrade their TV audio experience. You can learn more in my team's full Samsung Q990F soundbar review.

The Q990F is one of Samsung's flagship soundbar systems. It includes everything you need for a complete 11.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos surround-sound experience, with powerful audio and plenty of wireless music-streaming options.
Why we love the Samsung Q990F soundbar
The Samsung Q990F is my go-to soundbar recommendation for anyone who wants to turn their TV setup into a full-fledged home theater. It offers a hassle-free way to experience true Dolby Atmos surround sound without the added expense of an AV receiver, the space drain of large tower speakers, or the frustration of speaker wires all around your room. You get a 48.5-inch bar, a wireless subwoofer, and two wireless rear speakers all in the box. Together, they create a much more enveloping experience than any stand-alone soundbar.
The Q990F supports 11.1.4 audio channels, with up- and side-firing drivers that spread sound in all directions. The up-firing drivers are especially impressive as they bounce effects off the ceiling, so falling rain and swooping helicopters sound like they're coming from overhead. Many lesser Dolby Atmos soundbars lack up-firing speakers and instead rely on processing to simulate height effects, which is a lot less convincing. When watching movies known for their immersive soundtracks, like "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Dune II," the Q990F fully engulfed our reviewer in a three-dimensional dome of audio.
Samsung also redesigned the subwoofer compared to older models. It's smaller than the one included with previous Q990 systems, so it's easier to place, and it uses a sealed cabinet, which helps keep it from sounding loose or rattly. In our testing, it gave explosions, revving engines, and bass-heavy music plenty of punch, while offering headroom to spare for people who like to turn up the rumble.
The Q990F is packed with useful extras, too. Its two HDMI inputs can pass through 4K/120Hz signals with variable refresh rate, so it’s a particularly nice fit for a PS5 or Xbox Series X setup. It also supports Alexa or Bixby voice control. And if you own a compatible Samsung TV, you can use the Q-Symphony feature to combine your display’s built-in audio with the soundbar to fully use all your speakers.
For those with very tight spaces, a cheaper stand-alone bar, like the Sonos Beam Ultra or Bose Smart Soundbar, will be a better fit, but if you crave genuine surround sound performance in a convenient package, the Q990F is the soundbar system to beat.
