遊戲角色透明影格的實用檢查方法

A practical way to inspect transparent character frames in a game

Transparent PNG frames can look fine on a checkerboard and still show distracting edges once a game scene is behind them. Here is a small review routine you can use before assembling a sprite sheet. It works for hand-drawn and generated frames alike.

1. Start with three backgrounds

Place the character on a dark solid color, a light solid color, and a background close to the colors in the target scene. Scrutinize the outline, spaces between limbs, and small accessories. A pale halo can disappear on white and become obvious on a dark background. A dark fringe can do the reverse.

The checkerboard indicates transparency; it is not a substitute for the actual scene. Keep the background outside the exported frame rather than baking the checkerboard into the image.

2. Check at the size players will see

Inspect at actual display size first, then zoom in to locate a problem. At high magnification a minor soft edge can look worse than it does in game, while a one-pixel gap may disappear into the character at normal size. Try the intended camera zoom and both quiet and visually busy backgrounds.

For pixel art, use nearest-neighbor scaling and integer enlargement during review to preserve the pixel grid. For other 2D styles, preserve the intended antialiased edges and evaluate them at the intended display scale rather than applying pixel-art rules to every asset.

3. Review the whole sequence

Flip through the frames at the planned timing. Look for edges that flicker, disappearing details and feet that shift unexpectedly. Place each frame against the same background with a consistent pivot: a change in framing can look like movement even when the pose is stable. If one frame has a defect, note its index so it can be replaced or excluded before export.

4. Check the engine import

Import a small test sequence into the target engine. Verify the texture filtering and the pivot/origin, and compare the animation in a real scene. Godot's 2D sprite animation guide covers one way to set up animated sprites. Settings vary by engine and art style, so treat the preview as a diagnostic rather than a guarantee.
