Day 26 of 30 Days of Search.
TL;DR
You can build much more than a search interface with Valyu APIs. These ten apps turn retrieved evidence into biomedical research, consulting reports, investment analysis, geopolitical maps, patent discovery, pharmaceutical content reviews, and scientific research briefs. Each profile below includes what the app does, its stack, Valyu's role, a repository link, a live app link, and a screenshot.
One distinction matters: not all ten currently call Search API directly for their main workflow. Some use Search to retrieve evidence for application-owned reasoning. Others use DeepResearch to run a research task and return a cited report. This collection shows both patterns.
What can you build with Valyu Search API and DeepResearch?
A researcher does not need another list of links. They need to compare clinical evidence. A fund manager needs to find the weakness in a thesis. A consultant needs a research brief they can turn into a client discussion.
That is the starting point for these apps: a specific job, with search and research underneath it.
The Valyu Search API returns results your application can reason over. DeepResearch handles a longer investigation and returns research output. The interface, review steps, and next action are where each product becomes different.

The screenshots show the hosted interfaces as captured on October 26, 2026. Built-in examples illustrate the products, not independently validated research findings. Some actions require sign-in and credits.
1. Bio: turn a biomedical question into a research brief
Bio helps researchers investigate questions that span scientific papers, clinical trials, drug labels, and patents. Suppose you are comparing approaches to CAR-T treatment for lupus: choose a competitive-landscape workflow, specify the research scope, then review a cited report before deciding which programmes need closer reading. Valyu DeepResearch runs the investigation across biomedical and web sources. Bio adds the life sciences workflow browser, research-depth controls, report history, and deliverables, turning a broad question into material a research team can inspect rather than an unsupported answer.
Stack: Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Drizzle, and SQLite or Supabase.
Bio organises research around life sciences jobs. Its output supports research, not clinical diagnosis or treatment decisions.
2. Consult Ralph: start a consulting engagement with a sourced brief
Consult Ralph helps consultants prepare company due diligence, market analysis, competitive intelligence, and industry research. For example, a consultant assessing a market-entry opportunity can name the market, add the client's context and specific questions, and request a brief with supporting files. Valyu DeepResearch performs the research and generates the requested deliverables. The app packages that work into a consulting-specific form and results view, so the next step is reviewing assumptions and shaping a client recommendation, not copying scattered search results into a document.
Stack: Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Zustand, and valyu-js.
The brief starts with the consulting question and client context; the deliverables support the work that follows.
3. Finance: build research around the investment workflow
Finance helps analysts move from a company or investment question to a cited financial research report. An analyst preparing for an investment committee meeting can start with a company profile or memo workflow, set the scope, and inspect the supporting sources before taking a position to the team. The current app uses Valyu DeepResearch and a financial-services workflow catalogue, rather than making the user orchestrate individual searches. Finance provides the report interface, research history, and controls for charts, code execution, and deliverables.
Stack: Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Drizzle, and SQLite or Supabase.
Finance turns a financial research question into a reviewable report. It does not execute trades.
4. Global Threat Map: give geopolitical research a geographic interface
Global Threat Map puts security events, geographic context, and actor research on an interactive globe. An analyst investigating a regional disruption can explore the map, narrow the event feed, and investigate a relevant organisation before preparing a briefing. Valyu Search supplies news and entity-background retrieval; DeepResearch supports longer intelligence dossiers. Mapbox handles the geographic interface and map layers. That separation matters: Valyu supplies research evidence, not every flight, fire, or earthquake marker displayed by the app.
Stack: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Mapbox GL JS, Tailwind CSS, Zustand, and valyu-js.
The captured map is public; its event feed is sign-in gated. A marker is a starting point for investigation, not a verified threat assessment.
5. Polyseer: research the question behind a prediction-market price
Polyseer helps users investigate markets on Polymarket and Kalshi. Paste a market URL, and the app reads the question, prices, closing date, and resolution rules before starting research. Someone examining a central-bank decision market can compare the resulting estimated probability, supporting evidence, and risks against the market price, then decide whether the apparent disagreement deserves more investigation. Valyu DeepResearch runs that investigation and returns structured forecasting output and supporting files. Polyseer supplies the market context and the interface for following the research.
Stack: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Zustand, and Polymarket/Kalshi API integrations.
A research estimate can be wrong. Polyseer is not a guarantee of a forecasting edge or a profitable trade.
6. Patents: move from an invention description to documents worth reading
Patents, branded PatentAI in the interface, helps builders and researchers investigate patent documents in natural language. A hardware team exploring solid-state batteries can describe the mechanism, narrow the jurisdiction, and inspect related patent records and drawings before deciding what to take to a patent professional. Valyu Search retrieves USPTO and EPO patent material; the app adds conversational investigation, patent-identity handling, and analysis tools. The useful outcome is a better set of documents and questions, not an automated declaration that an invention is patentable or safe to commercialise.
Stack: Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, Vercel AI SDK, valyu-js, Recharts, and Daytona.
Use retrieved patent documents to guide further investigation. Prior-art and freedom-to-operate conclusions require qualified review.
7. OpenWhales: follow institutional and insider disclosures
OpenWhales helps investors investigate what institutions, activist investors, and corporate insiders have disclosed in SEC filings. Search a ticker such as NVDA or an investor's name to explore holdings, transactions, and a sourced narrative, then open the filings behind an interesting change. Valyu's SEC Search tools supply the filing evidence, with additional financial, economic, and company-research tools available for follow-up questions. OpenWhales turns that retrieval into holdings tables, transaction views, and conversational analysis, with Redis caching for repeat requests.
Stack: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Vercel AI SDK, @valyu/ai-sdk, Redis, and Zustand.
A disclosure tells you what was reported for a particular date or period. It is not a live view of an investor's complete portfolio or intentions.
8. OpenMLR: check pharmaceutical claims against retrieved evidence
OpenMLR is a medical, legal, and regulatory pre-check for pharmaceutical promotional content. A reviewer can paste a draft asset containing a comparative efficacy claim, inspect the evidence attached to each finding, and decide whether to accept it, request a revision, or reject it. Valyu Search retrieves claim-specific material from sources such as drug labels, PubMed, and clinical trials, while specialist checks can run through DeepResearch. The app adds claim extraction, review decisions, an audit trail, and a reusable claims library. Human reviewers remain responsible for the determination.
Stack: Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, valyu-js, Zod, Streamdown, and optional PostgreSQL.
This is the app's preloaded sample, not a review performed for this article or a medical or regulatory endorsement of its findings.
9. Devil's Advocate: challenge an investment thesis before committee
Devil's Advocate helps fund managers stress-test investment memos against evidence and their own mandate. Write a stock, fund, or private-company thesis, then examine objections from bull, bear, and house-view review roles. The next step is addressing the objections or revising the memo before moving it towards investment committee review. Valyu supplies sourced research, including DeepResearch for attachment-backed investigations. The app adds the adversarial review process, per-manager rules, memo states, and PDF export, making the research part of an explicit decision workflow rather than another detached report.
Stack: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Vercel AI SDK, TipTap, Drizzle, SQLite, and Playwright.
The screenshot shows read-only examples. An app-level approval is a workflow state, not an investment recommendation.
10. ARC-AGI-N: find a research problem and a place to start
ARC-AGI-N helps people discover open questions in mathematics and science, read the supporting literature, and prepare an agent-ready research brief. Someone interested in climate science can search for problems, inspect the cited sources, choose a tractable starting question, and request a deeper research plan. Valyu Search powers discovery across web and academic material; DeepResearch produces longer plans. The app adds a browsable globe, structured problem cards, and copyable research prompts. It helps choose the next investigation, without claiming to prove that a question remains unsolved.
Stack: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Vercel AI SDK, Mapbox GL JS, valyu-js, and KaTeX.
ARC-AGI-N is an independent project, not an official ARC Prize benchmark. Check recent primary literature before claiming a problem is still open.
What these ten apps have in common
The differentiator is not that each app has a search box. It is what happens after retrieval: a document gets reviewed, a thesis gets challenged, a market question gets investigated, or a research problem becomes a concrete next step.
If you are building something similar, start with the user's job and work backwards:
- Define the decision or output. A shortlist, research brief, evidence check, or investment memo needs a different interface.
- Choose Search or DeepResearch deliberately. Use Search when your application controls retrieval and reasoning. Use DeepResearch when you want a completed investigation and cited output.
- Keep the evidence visible. Preserve source links, dates, and relevant passages so someone can check the interpretation.
- Make the next action explicit. Open the filing, read the paper, revise the claim, or request a deeper investigation.
You can study the repositories above, check their licences and setup requirements, and adapt the relevant pattern to your own application. For a smaller starting point, see the Valyu quickstart and Vercel AI SDK integration.
Frequently asked questions
Are all ten apps built directly on Valyu Search API?
No. Patents and OpenWhales expose clear application-owned Search patterns. Bio, Finance, Consult Ralph, and Polyseer currently use DeepResearch for their main research workflows. Global Threat Map, OpenMLR, and ARC-AGI-N combine search and longer research. Devil's Advocate uses Valyu research within its memo-review process. Study the current implementation rather than assuming every app follows the same architecture.
Can I run these applications myself?
The repositories are public, and the projects document deployment or local setup. Check each repository's licence, environment variables, required services, and source access before reusing it. Self-hosting the interface does not make API calls free; check current Valyu pricing.
Were the screenshots generated from new paid research runs?
No. They were captured from the hosted interfaces and a public built-in sample review. No new paid research task was launched to prepare this article. Screenshots demonstrate the product interface, not research accuracy, production traffic, or a measured performance benchmark.
Build your next research app
Pick one job from this collection and give your agent the evidence it needs to do it. Start with the API documentation, get a key at platform.valyu.ai, and keep the sources attached to the result.
The search is the beginning. The useful application is what you build around it.
