開發者稱 Claude Code 現拒絕協助重製現有遊戲

Developers say Claude Code now refuses work on recreating existing games

Game developers have been hitting refusals from Claude Code since late October, some on projects they say they have a right to build. Bruno Ferreira reported the complaints for Tom’s Hardware on Saturday, citing a wave of issues on Claude Code’s public GitHub tracker. TNW read the issues.

Anthropic has not announced a change, and its Claude Code changelog does not mention one. Tom’s Hardware said there was no official statement.

What one developer reports

The owner of Conflict Simulations LLC builds personalised digital versions of board wargames for clients who own the games. Around 27 October, Claude Code began getting “a server-side instruction” to refuse game work, the developer wrote in a GitHub issue on 30 October. Sessions now refuse the work, citing an instruction against reproducing games.

“A blanket category rule against ‘games’ cannot tell the difference between piracy and commissioned professional work for a game’s owner.” The owner of Conflict Simulations LLC, on GitHub

In an update, the developer said the sessions kept doing the work after the rule reportedly arrived. The refusals began only after they asked Claude to check whether the rule affected their projects. They continued in new sessions on the same code. One commenter suggested the project’s memory or Git history now carried the refusal, and the developer said they would try to clear it.

Anthropic’s support bot told the developer the policy covers all customers, with no exception, the developer wrote. Both support tickets were later passed to staff, and the developer has filed an appeal. They asked Anthropic to aim the rule at real copyright infringement and to offer a verification path for professionals.

The wider context

Not everyone on the thread agreed. One commenter said that unless the work is for the rights holders, it is no different from any other reverse-engineered port.

Other developers reported a separate kind of block this month. Claude Code’s cyber safeguards flagged anti-cheat code for one developer’s game and a security review of another’s own game. Tom’s Hardware said the timing of the two kinds of restriction may be a coincidence.

Anthropic says its generally available models have conservative cyber safeguards that block most cyber work. On 6 October it expanded its Cyber Verification Program, which lifts some of those blocks for vetted security teams. Members of Project Glasswing, its earlier programme for its Mythos model, move into the top tier.

The company also faces copyright claims, including a suit over 274 Elvis Presley songs filed in October. Separately, a tampered Claude Code extension reached Cursor users on 29 October. Anthropic has not said whether the game rule exists or will get an exemption path.
