Figma deepens investment in India with largest international Config yet
Figma 在印度舉辦迄今最大規模的國際 Config,並宣佈把 Campus Leaders 計劃擴展至印度大學生,以及與 Sarvam 建立 MCP 合作。
Config India 2026 was Figma’s largest international conference yet, with over 30,000 people registered in-person and virtually. At the event today, Figma announced product updates
Build by design: New workflows for new ways of building
, an MCP partnership with Sarvam, and the launch of a new education program for university students in India as part of its expansion in the country.
As of June 30, 2026, India is Figma’s second largest market by daily active users globally and is one of the company’s fastest-growing markets. Design is more important than ever in this AI era, and new research from Figma shows that more people in India are engaging in design.
“In a world where code is becoming commoditized, design is increasingly the differentiator,” says Dylan Field, Figma Co-founder and CEO, at Config India. “It’s incredible to see how much design leadership there is in India, and how much ambition there is in the next generation of designers.”

A new education program for India
The inaugural Campus Leaders cohort in India will begin in January 2027. Applications are now open until 11:59 p.m. IST on November 7, 2026. Students can learn more and apply here.
Figma is excited to expand its Campus Leaders program to university students in India, the program’s first foray outside of the US and Canada. Launched in 2024, the program is already active on more than 60 university campuses in North America, where it expands access to design tools, helps students build valuable career skills, and strengthens community. For the program in India, students can apply to be design leaders on their campus, host events, and build design-focused programming.
India is also home to 23 chapters of Friends of Figma, an inclusive creator community run by Figma users. It has over 33,000 members (as of June 30, 2026), making it one of the most active communities in the world.
More broadly, Figma’s Education program is available to higher education institutions in India and globally, offering university students free access to Figma’s suite of professional-grade tools.
An India-first MCP partnership with Sarvam
At Config India, Figma announced its MCP partnership with Sarvam, enabling users to add Figma context into their workflow. This expands Figma’s MCP partner ecosystem globally with Sarvam's Indus joining Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Xcode, VS Code, among others.
“We’re excited to partner with Figma in an India-first AI collaboration. By combining our expertise in building AI for India with Figma’s rich design context, we can help teams build higher quality products, reduce rework, and accelerate overall product development,” says Dr. Pratyush Kumar, CEO and Co-founder of Sarvam.
Figma also serves many of the country’s most innovative and fastest-growing companies, including over 40% of the top Bombay Stock Exchange 100 (BSE100) companies (as of Q2 2026). Airtel, CARS24, Groww, Juspay, Myntra, Swiggy, TCS, and Zomato are some of the companies that use Figma to design and build products in India today.
"Throughout the product development process today, Figma is not only a thinking partner, it has also become a highly collaborative canvas where designers, engineers, product managers, and others come together to take an idea from start to finish seamlessly. Figma's new tools allow us to bring our designs even closer to the end product in the customer's hands every day," says Priyanka Srinivasagopalan, Design Lead at Zomato.
Indian builders are more optimistic about AI adoption than the US or EMEA
The research in India draws on 507 survey responses from designers, developers, and product managers—a subset of over 1800 surveyed globally between August 17 and September 16, 2026.
According to new research from Figma, 65% of Indian builders are especially excited about how work is changing, compared to 44% in the US and EMEA. In fact, 83% of those surveyed in India say they are more productive or efficient, and 82% say their teams are moving faster from idea to finished product.
The findings are striking:
- Shifting roles are reshaping builders’ work: 87% of builders say shifting roles have had a positive impact on their team, and 77% of non-designers are regularly engaging in design activities.
- There’s an emerging need for more collaboration: 65% say increasingly siloed work makes it harder to see the big picture of what they're building.
- Design is seen as the key to future growth and success: 81% agree design is becoming the common language different teams use to align on ideas, and over 80% of builders expect to increase their use of design and development tools in the next 12 months.
As of September 30, 2026, Figma had approximately 2,200 Figmates globally.
Bringing Config to India builds on Figma’s existing commitment to the market. Figma also launched a Hindi localization of its product earlier this year, and continues to actively hire talent to grow its footprint in India.
