AI 搜尋帶來的流量很少,正是忽略它的主要論據
AI search sends very little traffic. That's the main argument for ignoring it.
I think it's the wrong scoreboard.
Michael King wrote one of the more clear-headed takes on this debate: judge AI search only by referral clicks and you miss most of what it does.
Look at the scale:
• ChatGPT has reached 1.2 billion weekly users.
• Google's AI Mode and Gemini each have over 1 billion monthly users.
• In Semrush data on 400 commercial keywords, AI Overviews showed up for 91% in software, 89% in banking and 85% in ecommerce by August 2026.
Banking and ecommerce were both under 50% in September 2025. The full 12-month trend is in the graphic below.
These are commercial keywords. The people typing them are comparing products and deciding who to buy from.
And that's just Google Search.
Someone can scroll past an AI Overview and click an organic result. The answer they read on the way down can still shape what they think of your brand.
I've been doing SEO since 2015.
Client sites. My own blog. My Amazon sites, which still get organic traffic, just not like before.
I studied computer science, so I trust data.
I also know analytics only report what they were built to track.
A click is easy to count.
A brand that got recommended in an AI answer and then searched by name later is much harder to attribute.
Ranking a page and getting your brand into an AI answer are two different jobs.
Rankings come from SEO.
AI answers pull from everything the web says about you:
• Clear positioning
• A compelling offer
• Consistency across your site, profiles and listings
• Reviews, customer feedback and outside validation
• Mentions on the sites that matter in your niche
Most of that is brand building and marketing. GEO as a label only covers part of it.
LinkedIn taught me this first.
I came here to share SEO and ended up learning branding, copywriting and how trust gets built.
Posting here brought me clients I never cold-pitched.
None of that showed up as referral traffic either.
Outside validation works the same way. TechLookBD being named "Most Pioneering SEO Strategy Company 2024" at the MarTech Awards is one more thing the web says about us. No analytics report will ever give it a click.
We do need better measurement.
How AI visibility feeds brand preference, consideration and revenue is still hard to show in a report.
But small referral numbers don't prove a channel has no influence.
People are already finding and judging brands this way.
Our marketing and our measurement have to catch up.
How are you tracking AI visibility for your brand or your clients right now?
