Obigo is applying its new industrial physical artificial intelligence (AI) solution, BOLT, to power infrastructure for the first time.

According to industry sources on Oct. 28, Obigo has been conducting a proof of concept (PoC) for BOLT with a global energy and power infrastructure company since March. “The first PoC confirmed BOLT’s potential for deployment in industrial environments,” an Obigo official said. “We are currently conducting a second PoC with the same company, incorporating additional AI capabilities.”

BOLT is Obigo’s new solution that connects different types of industrial equipment and communication protocols to integrate data and enable AI agents to use it. The solution currently supports only on-premises deployment, with installation directly within customers’ environments.

Founded in March 2003, Obigo develops automotive software platforms. Its main products include browsers and middleware, which connects software and operating systems, for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. Its major customers are original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 automotive suppliers. Last year, the company supplied Hyundai Motor Group with infotainment solutions for global markets.

Power infrastructure presents challenges for introducing new systems. According to Obigo, many facilities involved in the ongoing PoC operate aging equipment. These systems use different communication protocols and data formats, creating obstacles to the adoption of new technologies.

Obigo has addressed these constraints by leveraging its equipment integration capabilities developed through automotive software projects. BOLT connects equipment and communication standards across different systems, enabling data integration and AI applications while retaining existing infrastructure. BOLT’s AI agents and applications also run in edge computing environments.

Obigo is participating as the lead company for the automotive sector in the Korea Internet & Security Agency’s (KISA) Supply Chain Security Model Establishment Support Project. The project aims to develop an automotive software security model that manages software components and vulnerabilities in environments where source code and technical information cannot be transferred externally, while integrating patching and verification processes.

Obigo plans to initially target the power and energy infrastructure markets before expanding into industries where security and operational stability are critical, including defense, rail and shipbuilding.

The company reported consolidated revenue of 33.5 billion won last year, up 132.5% from 14.4 billion won in 2024. Its operating loss widened to 3.7 billion won from 2.7 billion won a year earlier. The deterioration appears to reflect a 118.1% surge in selling, general and administrative expenses to 37.3 billion won from 17.1 billion won over the same period.
