The Korea Semiconductor Industry Association said on Oct. 14 that it will host the 2026 JEDEC Forum at COEX in Seoul on Oct. 15, jointly with the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR). The event, organized in cooperation with semiconductor standards body JEDEC, will cover next-generation memory technologies and developments in JEDEC industry standards.
The forum, titled "Industry Forum on AI Memory Architectures, Testing, and Ecosystem Readiness," will bring together Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Intel, MediaTek and Synopsys, among others, to discuss next-generation memory architectures, testing and validation technologies, and industry responses.
Samsung Electronics and SK hynix will introduce low-power double data rate (LPDDR)-based processing-in-memory (PIM) technology and discuss LPDDR-PIM development and standardization trends. PIM integrates computing capabilities into memory, unlike conventional architectures that rely on separate processors. By performing computations within or near memory, PIM reduces data transfers, which consume time and power, potentially improving processing speed and energy efficiency.
The forum will also address testing and validation technologies needed to ensure stable next-generation memory performance. Japan's Advantest will discuss challenges in testing bumps that connect DRAM dies in high-bandwidth memory (HBM). It will also present testing and evaluation technologies for measuring multilevel signals in high-speed memory.
U.S.-based Keysight Technologies will introduce electrical and system-level testing and validation technologies required for the transition to DDR6 and LPDDR6.
Synopsys will present server memory architectures designed to address the spread of AI and memory bottlenecks. Intel will discuss changes in memory architectures as AI expands into personal devices.
MediaTek will outline developments and innovation in computing, memory and input/output (I/O) technologies. MPS will discuss trends in automotive system security technologies.
