Vinatech has secured more than 200 billion won in orders for data center supercapacitors in the second half of 2026 alone, equivalent to approximately 2.8 times its annual revenue in 2025.

Vinatech disclosed on Oct. 19 that it had signed a 123 billion won contract to supply data center supercapacitors to Taiwan’s AcBel Polytech.

The contract represents 149.6% of Vinatech’s consolidated revenue of 82.2 billion won in 2025 and runs through Feb. 1, 2028.

AcBel Polytech manufactures high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power systems for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and power supply units (PSUs) for servers.

As AI server power consumption increases, the company is expanding its product portfolio to include megawatt-scale power systems and high-density power supplies.

Vinatech previously secured a 38.4 billion won supercapacitor order from AcBel Polytech in July.

In addition to AcBel Polytech, Vinatech has secured customers including US fuel cell company Bloom Energy and electronics contract manufacturer Sanmina.

Over approximately four months since late June, Vinatech has signed five data center supercapacitor supply contracts totaling 229 billion won with these companies.

AcBel Polytech accounts for the largest share at 161.4 billion won, followed by Bloom Energy at 41.2 billion won and Sanmina at 26.4 billion won.

The increase in orders reflects the power consumption characteristics of AI data centers.

AI data centers can experience sudden spikes in electricity demand when large numbers of graphics processing units (GPUs) perform calculations simultaneously or workloads increase sharply.

These rapid fluctuations in power consumption make stable power delivery particularly important.

Supercapacitors have lower energy storage capacity than conventional batteries but offer higher instantaneous power output and faster charging and discharging.

Their ability to supply or absorb electricity over short periods makes them suitable as auxiliary power sources for responding to sudden power fluctuations and outages in data centers.

Previously, their main applications included automotive dashboard cameras and smart meters.

Vinatech has also increased production of high-capacity supercapacitors.

Production of snap-in supercapacitors reached 5.08 million units in the first half of 2026, exceeding the 4.86 million units produced throughout 2025.

The utilization rate rose 29.52 percentage points, from 43.88% in 2025 to 73.4% in the first half of 2026.

Snap-in supercapacitors are used in energy storage systems (ESS) and auxiliary power supplies.

The major contracts secured by Vinatech in 2026 have supply periods extending through 2028. Revenue from the agreements is expected to be recognized progressively according to delivery schedules.
