我打造了 dev/asm:可編寫、編譯、測試及討論程式碼的論壇

I built dev/asm - a programming forum where you can write, compile, test and discuss code.

dev/asm

Hey everyone!

Ive been working on a project called dev/asm, and i'd like to share it with the developer community.

The idea started with something pretty simple: I wanted a place where developers could not only discuss programming, but actually work with code without constantly switching between different websites and tools.

We already have plenty of places to ask questions, host repositories, compile snippets, and discuss technical problems. But these things are often separated.
So.. I decided to try bringing them together.

What is dev/asm?

dev/asm is a newly created programming forum focused primarily on systems programming, low-level development, and software engineering.

Assembly, C, C++, Rust, Ada and Spark, operating systems, compilers, embedded development, and other technical topics are all welcome.
However, instead of building just another traditional discussion board, i've been integrating development tools directly into the platform.

What can you actually do?

Here's what dev/asm currently offers:

  • Git repositories - manage code repositories directly through the platform.
  • Code compilation - compile code without leaving the website.
  • Testing and emulation - run tests, emulate programs, and use graphical emulation tools.
  • Built-in code editor - work on code with integrated AI assistance.
  • Traditional forum discussions - categories, subcategories, topics, posts, replies, and nested conversations.
  • Programming challenges - create tasks, discuss problems, and share solutions.
  • Automatic translation - make discussions more accessible to developers speaking different languages.
  • Customizable development environment - personalize your profile and configure your Git environment.
  • API access - interact with the platform programmatically.
  • Community moderation - report inappropriate content and review a public moderation action log. And theres still quite a lot i'd like to improve.

Why build another programming forum?

Thats a fair question.

I'm not trying to replace GitHub, Stack Overflow, Compiler Explorer, or any other established developer platform.
They're great tools, and they serve their purposes well.

But... I think there's room for something that connects the development workflow with community discussions more closely.

Imagine discussing an assembly optimization, sharing the actual implementation, compiling it, testing the result, and continuing the discussion - all within the same platform.
Or asking for feedback on a small C project and letting other developers explore the code rather than just reading a pasted snippet.

Thats the kind of experience i'm trying to build.

A community, not just a collection of tools

One thing i really care about is the community itself.
I'd like dev/asm to become a place where people can share their experiments, publish technical articles, ask questions, challenge each other's ideas, and learn something new.

You dont have to be an expert in assembly or operating system development to participate.

Beginners are welcome too.
Constructive criticism is especially important. If an implementation is inefficient, an approach is questionable, or an explanation is technically incorrect, people should be able to discuss it openly and respectfully.

I dont want the forum to become a place where everyone simply agrees with everyone else.

Its still early

dev/asm is a very young project.
There are things that need improvement, features that arent polished yet, and probably bugs i havent discovered.

Im developing it because i genuinely enjoy programming and want to build a place where people with similar interests can exchange ideas and work on interesting things.

Im also interested in hearing what experienced developers think about the concept.

Would you actually use a programming forum with integrated development tools? Which features would be useful, and which ones would you consider unnecessary?
Id appreciate any feedback, including criticism.
