多智能體醫療 AI 如何防止重複操作
Preventing Duplicate Actions in Multi-Agent Healthcare AI
Agentic AI systems can plan and execute tasks across healthcare workflows. However, multiple agents working concurrently introduce a coordination problem: two agents may initiate the same action because neither has reliable visibility into the other's activity.
Consider a referral workflow. Agent A submits a referral, but the response is delayed. Agent B checks the record, cannot see confirmation and submits another referral. Both agents follow their local logic, yet the overall system produces a duplicate.
Why this happens
Common causes include asynchronous updates, separate application databases, delayed acknowledgements, concurrent execution and retries after uncertain outcomes. A timeout does not necessarily mean an operation failed. The action may have succeeded while its confirmation was lost.
How to reduce the risk
Use a shared task registry that records task identifiers, status, ownership and timestamps. Before executing an action, an agent should check whether the same task is already in progress or completed.
Use idempotency keys for operations that must not be repeated unintentionally. Where supported, apply transaction controls and uniqueness constraints at the service boundary, rather than relying entirely on an agent's reasoning.
Define explicit task states such as pending, in progress, completed, failed and cancelled. Treat uncertain outcomes separately from confirmed failures. Apply bounded retries and reconcile the status before repeating consequential actions.
Finally, log which agent initiated each action, what evidence it used and whether another agent had already acted. Human escalation should remain available when task states conflict or clinical judgement is required.
Duplicate prevention must also be context aware. Two requests that look similar may represent different clinical needs, so similarity matching alone should not automatically block an action.
The key engineering principle is simple: an AI agent should not assume that an action is new merely because it cannot see confirmation that it has already happened.
If you are building healthcare agents, test concurrent execution, delayed acknowledgements and retry behaviour before deployment.
