Iron Device, a fabless mixed-signal semiconductor company, said in a regulatory filing on Oct. 23 that CEO Park Ki-tae had purchased 125,000 shares of the company on the open market, equivalent to about 0.9% of its total outstanding shares.
Park, Iron Device's largest shareholder, increased his holdings to 2.8 million shares, raising his ownership stake to 20.01%.
"The current share price does not fully reflect Iron Device's intrinsic value and future growth potential, which prompted my decision to buy shares on the open market," Park said. "As the largest shareholder, I will demonstrate responsible management and enhance corporate value through sustained earnings growth and results from new businesses, while meeting shareholders' expectations."
Iron Device is accelerating its expansion into new businesses. The company has established a portfolio of power management integrated circuits (power ICs) for next-generation compound power semiconductors, which offer greater efficiency than conventional silicon devices in high-voltage and high-frequency environments. It plans to use these products to expand into humanoid robots, next-generation mobility and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.
The company began mass production of its SMA6533 high-performance gate driver IC for gallium nitride (GaN) power transistors in the third quarter, marking the full-scale launch of its power IC business. The chip precisely regulates the gate voltage of GaN transistors.
Iron Device is supplying samples of driver IC chips for actuators used in humanoid robot joints to several global customers. The company expects these products to begin contributing to revenue next year.
"Iron Device continues to deliver solid revenue growth based on its differentiated mixed-signal system-on-chip (SoC) semiconductor technology," Park said. "We are also achieving tangible results in our power IC business for next-generation compound power devices." Iron Device develops and supplies smart power amplifier SoCs that combine amplifier functions with power control algorithms.
Iron Device reported consolidated revenue of approximately 10.4 billion won in the first half of this year, surpassing its full-year 2025 revenue of 10.1 billion won in just six months. Its net loss for the period narrowed about 33% from a year earlier to 1.681 billion won.
