開發者的答案引擎優化(AEO)實用清單:六項技術調整
Answer Engine Optimization for Developers: A Practical Checklist
Answer engine optimization (AEO) helps your pages win direct answers in Google, voice assistants and AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity. Developers control many of the signals behind it, from HTML structure to schema markup and crawler access.
This checklist covers six technical changes you can make first. Each one takes hours, not weeks.
What answer engine optimization changes in your code
Answer engines pull a short, clear answer from a page and show it before any link. Google featured snippets and AI Overviews do this. So do ChatGPT search and Perplexity.
These systems favor pages that state the answer plainly, mark it up with structure, and load without friction. Your code decides all three. Good writing helps, but a blocked crawler or a client-side-only page can cancel it out.
Step 1: Put the answer directly under the question
Write a heading that matches how people ask the question. Then give a 40 to 60 word answer in the first paragraph below it. Add detail after that.
Engines can lift that first block without rewriting it. Here is the pattern:
<h2>What is a canonical tag?</h2>
<p>A canonical tag tells search engines which URL is the preferred
version of a page. It stops duplicate URLs from splitting ranking
signals across several addresses.</p>
Step 2: Render key content on the server
Googlebot can run JavaScript, but several AI crawlers handle it poorly or skip it. If your answer appears only after client-side rendering, some bots may never see it. Use server-side rendering or static generation for any text you want cited.
Run a quick test from your terminal:
curl -s https://example.com/your-page | grep -i "preferred version of a page"
If grep returns nothing, a basic crawler sees nothing either.
Step 3: Add structured data that matches the page
Use JSON-LD to describe the questions and answers already visible on the page. Never mark up content that users cannot see.
Google limited FAQ rich results to a small set of site types in 2023. The markup still gives machines a clean map of your questions and answers, so it remains worth adding.
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "FAQPage",
"mainEntity": [{
"@type": "Question",
"name": "What is a canonical tag?",
"acceptedAnswer": {
"@type": "Answer",
"text": "A canonical tag tells search engines which URL is the preferred version of a page."
}
}]
}
</script>
Validate it with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator before you ship.
Step 4: Check which crawlers can reach you
Open your robots.txt file and review every bot rule. Many sites block AI crawlers by accident through a copied template or a CDN setting.
Search bots and training bots serve different purposes. OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot power search answers. GPTBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended relate to model training or AI product use. Decide on each bot separately.
User-agent: OAI-SearchBot
Allow: /
User-agent: PerplexityBot
Allow: /
Blocking a search bot removes you from that product's answers. Allow the bots that match your goals, and document the choice for your team.
Step 5: Show who wrote the page and why readers can trust it
Add a visible author name, a published date and an updated date. Cite primary sources for every number. Describe your company with Organization schema and list its sameAs profiles.
These signals support Google's EEAT guidelines: experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust. AI tools also favor sources they can verify.
Step 6: Measure citations by hand
No single dashboard tracks AI citations perfectly. Start with Google Search Console and watch impressions and clicks on question-style queries.
Then ask your target questions in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews once a month. Log which sources each tool cites in a spreadsheet, and compare the results over time.
How AEO connects to GEO
Generative engine optimization (GEO) focuses on getting your brand cited inside AI-written answers. AEO focuses on winning the direct answer. Both rest on the same technical base you built above.

Answer engine optimization FAQs
What is answer engine optimization?
Answer engine optimization is the practice of structuring content so search engines and AI tools can extract it and show it as a direct answer. It combines clear writing, schema markup and technical access.
What is the difference between AEO and SEO?
SEO aims to rank pages in search results. AEO aims to make a page supply the answer itself, often without a click. Strong SEO still supports AEO, because engines pull answers from pages they already trust.
What is GEO in SEO?
GEO stands for generative engine optimization. It improves the odds that AI tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews cite your brand in their generated answers.
Does schema markup help AI search?
Schema markup helps machines understand page content, so it can support answer extraction. Nobody outside the platforms can prove a direct ranking effect, so treat it as a clarity signal, not a guarantee.
How do I get my website cited by ChatGPT?
Allow its search crawler, publish clear answers backed by sources, and earn mentions on trusted sites. Then test real questions each month to see which pages get cited.
