Infineon 與 SoluM 為 AI 數據中心開發 HVDC 電源方案
Infineon, SoluM to Develop HVDC Power Solutions for AI Data Centers

Infineon Technologies Korea said on Nov. 5 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SoluM for the collaboration.
The companies will cooperate in three areas: server power supply units (PSUs), battery backup units (BBUs) and intermediate bus converters (IBCs). Infineon will participate from the early stages of projects, proposing products, developing reference designs and providing technical support. It will supply silicon (Si), silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) power semiconductors, as well as microcontrollers (MCUs) and sensors.
SoluM will handle the design and manufacturing of server power solutions and power modules. The companies also agreed to hold regular technical exchanges to develop next-generation technologies.
HVDC distributes electricity within data centers using high-voltage direct current (DC) rather than alternating current (AC). By reducing the number of power conversion stages, it can minimize energy losses. HVDC is gaining attention as a way to improve power efficiency and density in AI data centers.
SoluM was established in 2015 through a spin-off of Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Digital Module (DM) division. The company manufactures power modules for televisions and servers, as well as electronic shelf labels (ESLs).
"AI data centers increasingly require power infrastructure with higher levels of efficiency, reliability and power density," said Adam White, president of Infineon's Power Systems division. "SoluM's capabilities in server power solutions and Infineon's semiconductor expertise are complementary."
"Through our collaboration with Infineon, we will strengthen our high-voltage, high-efficiency power design capabilities and expand new business opportunities in the next-generation AI data center power market," said SoluM CEO Jeon Seong-ho.
