ChatGPT 為 ResistGate 帶來的訪客多於社交媒體

ChatGPT Sends ResistGate More Visitors Than Social Media Does

Every Chrome Web Store listing gets its own Google Analytics property. I exported the ones for my three extensions this week, mostly to find honest numbers for my homepage. What stood out had nothing to do with the homepage. AI assistants send ResistGate more store visitors than social media does.

Where ResistGate's visitors came from

These are new visitors to the ResistGate store page from January 1 to October 15, 2026, grouped by Google Analytics' default channels.

Channel New visitors
Direct 92
Organic search 20
AI assistant 12
Unassigned 8
Organic social 3
Referral 2
Total 137

"Direct" means the visit arrived without a referrer. On a store page that covers people browsing inside the store, links opened from apps, and plenty I can't see.

Twelve people found ResistGate's store page through ChatGPT, Gemini or another assistant. Social media sent three. In the last 30 days, chatgpt.com and Gemini are two of the three named sources in the store dashboard's traffic report.

Twelve is a small number. It's still four times what social media sent.

The other two extensions got almost none

Extension Store-page visitors From AI assistants
ResistGate 137 12
Amethyst 83 1

Same developer, same store, same months. One extension gets recommended and the other two barely show up.

My guess at why

I can't see anyone's prompts, so this is a guess. The difference lines up with how clearly each extension is described, in plain words, on pages a model can read.

  • ResistGate's title is the thing people ask for. The store calls it a "Website Blocker with Typing Challenge", which puts the category first and the twist second. The short description names YouTube, Reddit and X, so the problem is clear in one line. That is easy to repeat when someone asks an assistant for "a website blocker that makes you type something first".
  • It has the most written about it. There's a comparison with Cold Turkey, a post on how I built it, and a public changelog for every release.
  • The other two describe themselves in words nobody asks for. Amethyst's store title calls it a "Local Attention Tracker". People ask for a website time tracker. noted. calls itself "Browser Notes with AI", which describes a hundred other extensions.

Check your own listing

If you publish an extension, you can run the same check on yours.

  1. Open your listing's Google Analytics property and go to the User acquisition report. The "AI assistant" row is the number this note is about.
  2. Write down what someone would type into ChatGPT when they need your extension. Then read your store title. If the two share no words, change the title.
  3. Look for one sentence, anywhere public, that says what the extension does in those words. If it only exists in your head, a model can't repeat it.
  4. If people already use a better-known tool for the same job, write a plain comparison with it.

What I'm changing

The store titles come first, in the words from step 2:

Extension Store title now Draft
Amethyst Local Attention Tracker Website Time Tracker That Counts Only Active Time
noted. Browser Notes with AI Side Panel Notes with AI Chat
  • The same pages ResistGate has. Each of them gets a plain comparison with the tool people already know, and a post on how it works.
  • Measuring it on this site too. I'm adding Google Analytics back to this site, partly to see whether assistants send people here as well.

Twelve visitors isn't a trend yet. I'll check again in three months and post the numbers either way.
