LS Materials to Supply 69 Billion Won in Ultracapacitors to US Fuel Cell Maker

LS Materials announced on Oct. 13 that it has signed a contract worth about $51.5 million, or 69 billion won, to supply ultracapacitors (UCs) for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers to a U.S. hydrogen fuel cell company.
The contract is equivalent to about 2.4 times the company’s standalone revenue of 29 billion won last year.
Deliveries will be made in stages over about a year starting in April 2027. LS Materials signed an initial supply contract worth 6.3 billion won with the same customer in July, bringing cumulative orders to 75.2 billion won.
UCs are components that can charge and discharge large amounts of electricity in a short period. They help stabilize the output of hydrogen fuel cell power generation systems when electricity demand at AI data centers fluctuates sharply.
LS Materials is expanding its UC business beyond its traditional markets — such as wind power generation, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) — into AI data centers. The company is also in discussions with the customer regarding additional supply contracts.
