HL Robotics will unveil its outdoor autonomous parking robot, Stan, in Gangneung, Gangwon Province.

The company said on Oct. 16 it will demonstrate Stan at the 32nd ITS World Congress in Gangneung from Oct. 19 to 23. The event is an international exhibition and conference focused on intelligent transportation systems (ITS), bringing together 60,000 transportation experts, companies and officials from 90 countries.

The demonstration will feature two Stan robots performing the full autonomous parking process, including vehicle parking and retrieval, in a real-world environment. The demonstration will be open to all visitors at the Gangneung Hockey Centre parking lot.

HL Robotics will also introduce an integrated control system based on digital twin technology. The system digitally replicates physical spaces and synchronizes the locations, movement routes and operating status of robots and vehicles. When multiple robots operate simultaneously, it coordinates their routes and task sequences to avoid collision risks. The system is also designed to position vehicles in advance for scheduled retrieval.

HL Robotics is pursuing an integrated indoor and outdoor parking solution. By linking Stan with its independently developed indoor parking robot, Parkie, the company aims to automate vehicle parking and retrieval across different environments.

"Parking robots in South Korea have primarily been introduced for indoor use, but outdoor parking is also a major segment of the market," said Kim Yoon-gi, CEO of HL Robotics. "We will expand the adoption of Stan in South Korea."

Stan was developed by Stanley Robotics, a French company acquired by HL Robotics in 2024. The robot has been in operation for more than 10 years at locations including Lyon Airport in France and Gatwick Airport in the UK.
