正文

While working as a business process analyst, I often struggled to visualize processes during meetings with stakeholders. I usually took notes and converted them into BPMN diagrams afterward using drag-and-drop tools. This meant stakeholders couldn't immediately see or validate the process, often resulting in multiple iterations and additional meetings. There had to be a faster way.

From an idea to a working tool

I started looking for a tool that would allow me to create BPMN diagrams at the speed of conversation. When I couldn't find what I was looking for, I decided to experiment myself.

Since I enjoyed working with Python, I started developing a simple tool that could convert structured text into BPMN diagrams. Eventually, two developers joined me, and what started as a hobby project became something bigger.

We spent countless hours developing a modeling language that was both easy to learn and fast to write. And eventually, it worked! Every activity, decision, and connection we wrote was instantly converted into a visual BPMN diagram. That is why we called it Instant Process.

Making BPMN modeling faster

Since our first version, we've continued improving the modeling experience. With autocomplete, keyboard shortcuts, and a modeling language designed for speed, users can now create even complex process diagrams in minutes.

The goal is simple: model processes at the speed of conversation, allowing stakeholders to immediately see, discuss, and validate what's being modeled. We've also added features for process management, collaboration, and AI-assisted process analysis.

What about AI and Drag-and-Drop?

Traditional drag-and-drop tools provide great visual flexibility, while AI-generated BPMN diagrams can save considerable time by quickly turning descriptions into initial models. Both are valuable approaches.

However, I personally like the control that syntax-based modeling provides. You define every activity, decision, and connection yourself, while the software automatically generates the diagram. This allows you to continuously adjust the process during a conversation without relying on AI to interpret your intentions or manually rearranging diagram elements.

What do you think?

Would you prefer creating BPMN diagrams using syntax, AI, or traditional drag-and-drop?

I'm curious to hear your experiences! If you'd like to try what we've built, check out Instant Process. The basic version is free to use, also no signup is needed.
