‘I am looking forward to devoting my efforts to a new fund focused on US-based technology investment opportunities’, Long said.

An Atlantic Bridge co-founder is to leave the venture capital firm in order to establish his own technology fund based in the US.

Brian Long, also a managing partner at the Dublin-headquartered investment practice, said, “My time with Atlantic Bridge has been some of the most rewarding and satisfying of my career.

“I am looking forward to devoting my efforts to a new fund focused on US-based technology investment opportunities and sharing details of this new venture in due course.”

Atlantic Bridge, founded in 2004, invests in deep-tech companies in Europe, the UK and the US. Its offices in Dublin, London, Munich, Paris and Palo Alto, California work with around 120 portfolio companies and €1.4bn in assets under management.

Its areas of focus include those deemed to have “very strong growth potential and opportunities for superior investor returns” and in which its team has “specific knowledge and experience”.

These include “key technology sectors that play a major role in unlocking value in the next wave of computing”, according to Atlantic Bridge, such as AI, advanced computing, next-generation semiconductors, digital transformation, cybersecurity, climate and sustainability.

Long was previously the founder and CEO of Parthus-Ceva Technologies, from 1993 to 2003, and also founder and chair of GloNav Inc, which developed single-chip GPS solutions used in Samsung Galaxy mobile phones.

He currently advises or sits on the boards of various tech and software companies.

“I want to acknowledge especially the many investors who trusted us to manage their funds and the investee companies with whom I have worked so closely over so many years, some of which I will continue to serve as an advisor and board representative into the future,” he added.

Atlantic Bridge’s portfolio includes Dublin quantum computing company Equal1, chip manufacturer SambaNova – whose advisory board Long is a member of – and Galway’s Neurent Medical, a medtech start-up.

Kevin Dillon, another co-founder and managing partner at the firm, said: “Since founding Atlantic Bridge in 2004, Brian has achieved very significant investment success and has created meaningful opportunities for Atlantic Bridge investors and partners alike.

“We extend our best wishes to him as he moves on from Atlantic Bridge.”

Long, originally from Dublin, studied electronic engineering at Trinity College, graduating with a master’s degree in 1980. He lives and works in Palo Alto.
