LG Electronics 與 K-water 將在始華潮汐發電廠引入 AI 技術
LG Electronics, K-water to Bring AI to Sihwa Tidal Power Plant

LG Electronics will work with Korea Water Resources Corp. (K-water) to deploy artificial intelligence (AI), digital twin and robotics technologies at the Sihwa Tidal Power Plant. The project marks the company’s first expansion of smart factory technologies developed in manufacturing into public infrastructure, including power plants.
LG Electronics said Oct. 22 it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with K-water at the Sihwa Tidal Power Culture Center in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, to develop an AI-powered tidal power plant at Sihwa Lake. The companies will collaborate on implementing AI at the plant, testing digital twin and robotics technologies, conducting research and development (R&D) related to renewable energy and AI transformation, and exploring overseas business opportunities. Sihwa is the world’s largest tidal power plant by generation capacity.
LG Electronics will deploy a digital twin-based integrated operating system at the plant. The system will create a virtual replica of the facility and integrate equipment and CCTV data to support power generation forecasting, operational scenario testing and equipment diagnostics.
The company will also test an AI agent for power plant operations using EXAONE, a large-scale AI model developed by LG AI Research. The goal is to support analysis of power generation losses, detection of equipment anomalies, predictive maintenance, risk assessments, inspection schedule optimization and report preparation.
For on-site automation, LG Electronics will use patrol robots, AI-powered CCTV and industrial robots. The technologies will automate facility patrols, equipment inspections and hazardous-area monitoring, as well as spare parts management and materials transport.
LG Electronics plans to use the partnership to expand its smart factory business beyond manufacturing and logistics into the energy and infrastructure sectors. Cumulative orders for its smart factory solutions business exceeded 1 trillion won in the first half of 2026, two years after its launch.
