【HONG KONG, October 9, 2026】 AGIBOT today opened its Hong Kong office at Times Square in Causeway Bay, expanding its business presence and partnerships in the city. The office will support commercial collaboration, practical robot applications and partnerships with universities and research institutions.

Officials from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government invited to the opening ceremony included Lillian Cheong Man-lei, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, and Peter Yan King-shun, Director-General of the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES), alongside industry representatives and business partners. The event combined traditional Hong Kong business-opening customs with robot demonstrations, including guest reception, hosting, interaction and performances.

“Hong Kong’s international business environment, established service sector and strengths in research and talent provide a strong foundation for developing and applying embodied AI,” said Jiang Qingsong, Co-founder, Co-President, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of AGIBOT. “Our Hong Kong office will bring us closer to businesses and research partners in overseas markets, helping us deploy robots in more real-world settings and strengthen international collaboration in research, talent development and industry.”

“Hong Kong is an important gateway for introducing AGIBOT to international audiences,” said Zhu Jie, Partner and Senior Vice President of AGIBOT, and General Manager of its Public and Government Affairs Department and Brand Department. “Our new office will help us connect with customers, partners and the public, introduce our technologies and products, and build trust through our robots’ performance in real-world settings. We want people to see how robots can contribute to work and everyday life.”

Building Research Partnerships and a Local Team
AGIBOT has been in discussions with HKSAR Government departments, including the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau and OASES, since 2025 as it developed its plans for Hong Kong. In May 2026, AGIBOT co-hosted the First Hong Kong Embodied AI Industry Summit with the Hong Kong China Friendship Association. The company announced plans to establish an international R&D headquarters, develop joint laboratories with local universities and research institutions, and launch the Hong Kong Embodied AI Industry Co-Creation Initiative. The initiative covers practical applications, research collaboration, talent development and international innovation partnerships.

With the office now open, AGIBOT plans to advance this work in phases. The first phase will focus on establishing its international R&D headquarters and working with local universities to develop joint laboratories and an innovation centre connecting industry, research and education. These partnerships will help translate research into practical applications and create further opportunities for international collaboration. In the second phase, AGIBOT plans to expand its R&D team and invest tens of millions of HK dollars to support joint laboratories and research partnerships with local universities.

The company is also holding campus recruitment presentations at the Chinese University of Hong Kong on October 9, and at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Hong Kong on October 13. The sessions will introduce its business and career opportunities to young people interested in embodied AI and robotics.

“Following our discussions with AGIBOT, we are pleased to see its Hong Kong office open and its plans for an international R&D headquarters move forward. This marks encouraging progress and demonstrates confidence in Hong Kong’s innovation and technology sector,” said Lillian Cheong Man-lei, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry. “We look forward to the company drawing on local research and talent, working with universities and industry partners, and exploring applications across manufacturing, logistics, retail, conventions and exhibitions, and services to validate its technologies and translate research into practical use.”

Developing Practical Applications in Hong Kong
The Hong Kong office will strengthen AGIBOT’s relationships with local businesses and industry partners as it explores applications across the city’s service sector. Retail, hospitality and entertainment offer opportunities to assess how robots can support customer interaction, service delivery and daily operations.

AGIBOT plans to work with businesses to develop applications based on their operational needs. These projects will provide reference use cases for wider deployment and help the company test and refine its technologies in Hong Kong’s international business environment.

Over the medium to long term, AGIBOT plans to explore opportunities associated with the Northern Metropolis development and cooperation in the Hetao area, including the development of an embodied AI industry cluster, as it gradually expands its presence in Hong Kong.

“As embodied AI moves towards commercial deployment, practical applications, partnerships and international expansion are becoming increasingly important,” said Peter Yan King-shun, Director-General of OASES. “We are helping AGIBOT connect with local businesses and universities to support its research plans and development in Hong Kong. The city offers an internationally connected testbed for new applications. AGIBOT’s plans align with the HKSAR Government’s efforts to develop the AI industry and encourage its adoption across sectors, and we look forward to bringing more innovations from Hong Kong to the world.”

Demonstrating Robots in Everyday Settings
The opening event featured a product showcase with robot demonstrations in guest reception, hotel services and tea preparation, alongside the object-handling capabilities of dexterous robotic hands. Guests were able to see the company’s products up close and explore how embodied AI can be applied in practice.

AGIBOT’s portfolio includes humanoid robots, quadruped robots, dexterous manipulation systems and commercial cleaning solutions, with applications across manufacturing, commercial services, research, education, tourism and entertainment.

In September 2026, AGIBOT’s 20,000th robot rolled off the production line. As its products and applications continue to develop, the company will explore opportunities for larger-scale robot deployment across Hong Kong’s industries.
