AhnLab said on Oct. 25 that it had showcased its integrated security capabilities spanning information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) in Japan, where ransomware attacks targeting manufacturers and organizations have recently increased.
AhnLab participated in Security Days Fall 2026 Tokyo, held from Oct. 21 to 23. Security Days is one of Japan's leading cybersecurity exhibitions, focusing on emerging cyber threats and response strategies. The company also participated in Interop Tokyo 2026, an IT exhibition, in June.
At the event, AhnLab operated an exhibition booth and held presentation sessions focused on integrated IT and OT cyber-physical system (CPS) security.
CPS security protects environments where networks and physical equipment are interconnected. AhnLab's flagship offering, AhnLab CPS PLUS, provides threat visibility, detection and response capabilities based on endpoint and network security technologies.
Masaomi Kurokawa, a manager at AhnLab Japan, delivered a presentation titled "Optimal Solutions for Evolving CPS Security in the AI Era." The company also showcased OT-specific security solutions, including its AhnLab XTD network security solution and AhnLab EPS endpoint security solution.
XTD detects threats spreading within OT networks or entering through IT networks. EPS protects specialized systems, including industrial control systems (ICS), factory control systems, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, kiosks and automated teller machines (ATMs).
"EPS minimizes the burden on equipment through its lightweight design and supports older operating systems (OS) that no longer receive security patches, allowing deployment on legacy equipment that is difficult to replace," an AhnLab official said.
Yoji Tsubaki, country manager of AhnLab Japan, said, "Japanese customers are showing strong interest not only in AI-based security but also in CPS security to ensure operational stability at manufacturing sites and respond to ransomware threats."
"We will strengthen our position in the Japanese market by leveraging our CPS security experience and track record across various industries in Korea and overseas, along with locally tailored support," Tsubaki added.
AhnLab established its Japanese subsidiary in February 2002. Working with local partners, it serves the business-to-consumer (B2C) and small and medium-sized business (SMB) markets. The subsidiary reported revenue of 1.6 billion won in the first half of this year, up 33% from 1.2 billion won a year earlier. Net profit increased sharply to 356.88 million won from 123.94 million won over the same period.
AhnLab appointed Tsubaki as its new Japan country manager on Oct. 1 as part of its efforts to expand its Japanese business. Tsubaki is an IT and security specialist with more than 20 years of experience at companies including IBM, Symantec and Veritas.
