Cloud and artificial intelligence security startup Upwind Security Inc. today revealed that it has raised $400 million in new funding at a valuation of $3.8 billion.
Reports in early September had the round at $300 million. By the time it closed, Upwind had taken in an additional $100 million, and the company used the announcement to disclose that its revenue has quadrupled so far in 2026.
Upwind’s platform works from runtime data gathered across cloud workloads, application programming interfaces and AI agents. Co-founder and Chief Executive Amiram Shachar said Upwind was built to “unify those signals,” so security, development and DevOps teams share one view of their cloud and AI systems, including which data each can reach. Developers can follow any finding back to the code behind it.
The company argues that a patchwork of separate tools leaves teams with alerts that lack context, such as a warning about an AI agent’s activity with no hint of what the agent was after. Sorting through those alerts is the job Upwind has handed to specialized AI agents built into its platform. Those agents can investigate an alert, confirm it and carry out the fix, Upwind says, leaving human staff to focus on judgment and response.
Shachar said the AI agents companies now deploy can change cloud environments faster than human teams can keep up with on their own, so security tools have to show how workloads, APIs and agents interact as it happens. With that view in place, he said, customers can move “beyond alert management.”
Hundreds of organizations use Upwind, according to the company, and the customers it names include Siemens AG, Roku Inc. and Carvana Co. Amazon Web Services Inc. customers can open Upwind from inside the AWS console through an integration with AWS Security Hub, and billing runs through their AWS account. The platform also runs on Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Upwind plans to put the new funding toward product development and a broader go-to-market push.
The close comes days after Israeli business daily Globes cited a report by The Information saying Upwind had turned down a $4 billion takeover offer from Datadog Inc. Today’s announcement does not mention it.
Shachar co-founded Upwind in 2022 with former colleagues from Spot, a cloud infrastructure optimization startup that NetApp Inc. reportedly bought for $450 million in 2020.
Bessemer Venture Partners led the Series C round. Canapi Ventures came in as a new investor, while Cyberstarts, Greylock Partners, Craft Ventures Management, Salesforce Ventures and Picture Capital all returned. In January, a $250 million Series B round led by Bessemer valued Upwind at $1.5 billion. Investors have now put about $830 million into the company.
