They say good things come in pairs. The IPO market will be hoping that's true as Anthropic prepares to go public on the heels of SpaceX's record-shattering offering earlier this year.

SpaceX had the fine distinction of rewriting the IPO record book. Anthropic now has a chance to do the same. And given the company's position near the heart of the AI trade, its debut could be an even bigger test of investor appetite. A warm reception could revive enthusiasm for AI stocks. A weak one could send ripples well beyond Anthropic.

Let's break down the key numbers from Anthropic's brand new S-1 filing, along with some reported figures attached to the offering. They're listed in decreasing order.

$30 trillion+

This is Anthropic's reported total addressable market, or theoretical future revenue opportunity, according to the WSJ. It was pitched to prospective investors rather than disclosed in the S-1, which offers no numerical TAM estimate. The figure would top the $28.5 trillion market opportunity SpaceX laid out ahead of its IPO.

$2 trillion

The reported upper end of the valuation Anthropic could seek when it prices. The figure is still fluid, since the S-1 didn't provide a share count nor a price range. But a $2 trillion valuation would surpass SpaceX's $1.74 trillion post-IPO value and place Anthropic in the top tier of public companies.

$100 billion

The reported top end of Anthropic's potential IPO deal size. If the offering reaches that amount, it would become the largest ever, topping SpaceX's $75 billion raise.

$80.7 billion

Anthropic's net loss in the first half of 2026, widening from $13 billion a year earlier. But there's an asterisk: About $72 billion of the total reflected a noncash accounting charge tied to the company's convertible financing. Revenue, meanwhile, kept ripping higher…

$16.3 billion

The company's revenue in the first six months of 2026, up from $1.2 billion the year before.

$8.9 billion

How much money Anthropic spent on computing and infrastructure in the first half of 2026, a nearly 300% increase from the same period in 2025.

94

The number of pages of the S-1 dedicated to risk factors — almost a quarter of the entire thing. Anthropic warned that a potential "catastrophic AI-related incident" could be so damaging that the "insurance industry in the aggregate" may not be able to cover it, among other fun nuggets.

23

The number of scheduled unlock tranches in Anthropic's share-lockup plan. The company's setup is unusually elaborate. Some stock can become eligible for sale on day one, but other releases are scattered throughout 2027. The final shares could be locked for a year.

2

The number of primary competitors Anthropic says it has, referring to Alphabet/Google and OpenAI. The company did, however, also acknowledge possible challenges from model providers and specialized AI labs.
