Adobe is adding fully licensed music from Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to Premiere mobile, its free video editing app, the company said on Tuesday.

The deal brings songs by some of the world’s most-streamed artists into the editing process. UMG’s roster includes Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, while WMG represents artists such as Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa.

Creators will be able to add up to 60 seconds of a track directly to their videos. They can browse trending songs, preview tracks before selecting them, filter by genre or length, and explore collections curated by the labels. Favourite songs can also be bookmarked for later.

The new features are coming soon, although the licences cover personal, non-commercial use only. Creators who need music for commercial projects will have to turn to Adobe’s Stock Audio library instead.

Adobe is also introducing templates that come with music already paired to the edit. Finished videos can be exported directly to licensed social platforms. The app’s existing tools, including its Enhance Audio noise cleaner and Firefly-powered AI features, will remain available.

“We’re giving creators new ways to build their stories around the songs they love for the first time,” said Bryan Stone, SVP of business development at Universal Music Group.

He added that the agreement gives the label’s artists and songwriters another way to reach new listeners.

“Our partnership with Adobe Premiere mobile integrates WMG’s catalog directly into the creative process,” said Rachel Scarpati, VP of digital strategy and business development at Warner Music Group.

The way people engage with music now extends well beyond traditional listening platforms, she added.

The labels have had a more difficult relationship with some creator platforms. In 2024, UMG withdrew its catalogue from TikTok for several months during a dispute over royalties, before the two sides reached a new agreement.

This deal gives the major labels another route into short-form video, with licensing built into the editing process rather than handled only after a video reaches platforms such as TikTok or Instagram Reels.

It adds to the industry’s growing number of licensing agreements, which now span AI startups and creator apps.

Adobe launched Premiere mobile as a free iPhone app in September 2025. It brings a streamlined version of the company’s desktop editing tools to mobile devices, with projects transferable to Premiere Pro on desktop. The app is free to download, although some AI features require paid credits.

Adobe has not disclosed how artists and labels will be compensated for the music’s use, or when the new features will become available. The company said only that the rollout is coming soon, and that people who install the app now will be among the first to receive them.
